Castell d'Alaró

From the guesthouse to the cave of Sant Antoni
Beyond the point where you are standing, if you continue following the cairns and footpaths, you will discover several ethnological features such as charcoal kilns and huts, as well as up to three lime kilns, some of them of medieval origin.
This is the broadest section of the mountain, since everything you have explored so far forms a narrow strip between the two great cliffs. Archaeological remains found on the surface here suggest the presence of a very ancient settlement area, with materials dating from the fifth and sixth centuries AD.
Remember that La Mola, as explained at stop number 4, contains the old water spring and the area of the cisterns.
If you continue even further, after a walk of almost twenty minutes, you will reach the tower at the Cave of Saint Anthony, also known as the Prison of the Moors. From this point there are spectacular panoramic views over central Mallorca, although it is not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo. Beneath this tower, through a narrow rocky passage, you can enter the cave itself, where the remains of a small water basin and a tiny chapel from the time of the hermits can still be seen.
